Three Programmes, From Class 5 to a First Salary
Three Institutions, Standing Behind One Foundation
Turning Rural Education Into Real Employment
Learner first. Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. We believe meaningful skilling combines learning, confidence, exposure, shared responsibility and pathways to dignified livelihoods. We work with people, not for people, and build through partnerships across communities, academia, industry and institutions.
School children find their voice in English; college students and graduates leave ready for interviews and a first job
Community Resource Persons from the same villages, teaching inside partner schools and colleges rather than parallel infrastructure
Founded by Three Institutions, in One Rural District
IIT Hyderabad’s Rural Development Center saw the same gap repeat itself around Kandi. In 2020, three partners came together to close it — and to build something that could be copied elsewhere.
We help young people move forward Through these ways.
Progress we can point to.
“I hadn’t spoken English in front of a group before this. The trainers were from our own village, so nobody made me feel small for starting where I started.”

Questions We're Asked Often
Common questions from students, families and partner institutions
What is Next Bharat Skilling Foundation, and who are its programmes designed for?
Next Bharat Venures Skilling Foundation (NBVSF) is an initiative of the Rural Development Center (RDC), IIT Hyderabad. It is a not-for-profit organisation built on a simple belief: talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not.
NBSF works to build inclusive school-to-work pathways that help rural and semi-urban learners develop foundational, employability, technical and entrepreneurial capabilities for meaningful employment, self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.
Our programmes are designed for learners across the school → college → skills → industry → livelihoods journey.
What programmes does NBVSF offer, and where are they currently available?
Skill in Village (SiV)
Builds foundational English, life skills and confidence among school-age learners. It is currently being implemented across selected government schools in Sangareddy district.
SkillPlus
Focuses on English and communication, digital proficiency, reasoning and aptitude, life skills, workplace skills and career readiness for college students. It is currently delivered through partner colleges such as St. Anthony’s Degree College, Tara Government Degree College, and Government Women Degree College, Sangareddy and the NBVSF- Technology Innovation Park (TIP) centre at IIT Hyderabad.
Technical Skilling
Provides practical, industry- and MSME-aligned training for eligible youth. Current courses include CNC Machine Operator Training and Electrical Shopfloor Training, delivered through the NBVSF centre at IIT Hyderabad.
Programme locations and courses may vary by cohort and are communicated through the relevant programme information.
Are NBSF programmes free, or is there a programme contribution?
NBSF programmes are highly subsidised, but not necessarily free.
Depending on the programme, students or parents may make a modest Community/Programme Contribution towards a portion of the actual programme cost.
The contribution is intended to encourage shared ownership, seriousness and regular participation. It is not intended to generate profit and does not represent the full cost of delivering the programme.
The remaining programme cost may be supported through CSR, grants, donations, sponsorships, institutional support and other partnerships.
The applicable contribution, if any, is communicated clearly before enrolment.
Will participation in an NBSF programme affect regular school or college classes?
No. NBSF programmes are designed to complement regular education rather than replace it.
Programme schedules are planned in coordination with schools, colleges and training institutions. Depending on the programme, sessions may be conducted before or after regular classes, during institution-approved time slots, or through other agreed schedules.
Students are expected to follow the attendance and participation requirements communicated for their programme.
How long does each programme run, and how much time are students expected to commit?
Programme duration and time commitment vary depending on the programme, course and cohort.
Skill in Village generally runs through the academic year with periodic learning sessions, while SkillPlus and Technical Skilling are delivered through structured training batches.
Specific dates, duration, session schedules and expected time commitment are communicated to learners before enrolment.
How can a school, college, training institution or other organisation partner with NBSF?
NBSF works with schools, colleges, ITIs, universities, industries and other organisations to create meaningful learning and livelihood pathways.
Interested institutions can contact us through the Contact / Partner With Us section of the website and submit a partnership enquiry.
Our team will understand the institution’s requirements, assess programme fit and discuss the appropriate model. Partnerships are generally formalised through a written agreement based on the nature and scope of collaboration.
Who are NBSF's current institutional and ecosystem partners?
NBSF is an initiative of the Rural Development Center (RDC), IIT Hyderabad, developed through collaboration with Next Bharat Ventures and Deshpande Skilling.
NBSF also works with schools, colleges, ITIs, industries, employers and other ecosystem partners depending on the programme and location.
Specific institutional relationships and partner roles are governed by the relevant agreements and approved scope of collaboration.
Can institutions, partners or visitors visit an NBSF programme site or training centre?
Yes. Institutions, partners and other stakeholders may request a visit to the NBSF office, training centre or selected programme locations.
Visits should be coordinated with the NBSF team in advance through the Contact page so that an appropriate date, location and programme interaction can be arranged.
Visits involving schools or learners may be subject to institutional permission, safeguarding, privacy and consent requirements.
How can a student apply or enrol in an NBSF programme?
Enrolment may take place through a partner school, college, ITI, Diploma or other institution where NBSF programmes are being implemented.
Students, parents or institutional coordinators may also contact NBSF directly through the website to express interest in available programmes.
Submitting an enquiry or application, or making a Programme Contribution, does not automatically guarantee admission. Selection is subject to programme eligibility, verification, available capacity and other applicable requirements.
Does NBSF provide career guidance, internships, apprenticeships or placement support?
Yes. Depending on the programme, NBVSF provides support such as career guidance, resume preparation, interview readiness, industry exposure, employer engagement, internships, apprenticeships and placement facilitation.
Technical Skilling and SkillPlus are designed to strengthen learners’ readiness for education-to-industry transitions and connect them with relevant industry opportunities.
NBSF provides training and best-efforts career and placement support; however, no specific job, salary, employer, internship, apprenticeship or placement outcome is guaranteed.
